Quick Apply Full-time 10 hours ago Full Job Description Purpose of Your Job Position The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate the nursing assistant training program implemented by this facility in accordance with current federal and state guidelines.
Delegation of Authority As Nursing Assistant Training Program Coordinator, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Administrative Functions Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate the educational curriculum for the nursing assistant training program for nursing care facilities, as well as other allied health care institutions or agencies.
Serve as liaison officer between participating health care facilities and agencies.
Participate in the selection and/or dismissal of instructors and administrative support personnel for the nursing assistant training program.
Participate in and/or assist facility in constructing class schedules, clinical training schedules, orientation programs, and in-service training classes.
Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the nursing assistant training program.
Direct the preparation, scheduling, and selection of instructional material, equipment and training aids, to ensure that a modern, meaningful training program is provided.
Coordinate continuous in-service training programs to ensure that appropriate topics are included in the program and needs are being met.
Remain current on new developments by attending professional institutions, reading professional journals, and attending professional seminars.
Participate in the monitoring of instructional and skills training classes to ensure that our course curriculum is being followed.
Assist in enrolling students as necessary.
Assist in obtaining and negotiating contracts for the nursing assistant training program.
Assist in maintaining appropriate recordkeeping documents as outlined in the course specifications, as well as may be mandated by current federal and state requirements.
Develop work schedules and instructor assignments to ensure that all classes and clinical practice sessions are properly staffed.
Assist in the development of the department's budget by preparing appropriate cost reports and budgetary needs as required.
Investigate complaints about the program, instructors, course material, etc.
Make written and oral reports to the Administrator as required.

Meet with the Administrator, Director of Nursing Services, In-service Director/Educator, etc.
, on a regularly scheduled basis, and solicit advice concerning their training needs to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
Develop and participate in annual evaluations to determine if changes in the curriculum or training techniques need to be made.
Be responsible for administrative and office personnel assigned to the department.
Participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may become necessary.
Serve as public relations officer for the nursing assistant training program and promote such program throughout the community.
Represent the facility at top level meetings concerning the nursing assistant training program.
Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the nursing assistant training program.
Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the nursing assistant training program.
Other related duties and assignments that may become necessary, or as may be assigned by the Administrator.

Committee Functions Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility i.
e.
, Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Quality Assessment and Assurance, etc.
as required, and as appointed by the Administrator.
Provide written and/or oral reports of the nursing assistant training programs and activities as required, or as may be directed by such committees.
Evaluate and implement recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to nursing services.
Personnel Functions Assist the Director of Nursing Services and/or the HR Director in the recruitment and selection of nursing assistants.
Ensure that all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved training program.
Ensure that all nurse aide trainees are under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours for nurse aide trainees.
Assist the HR Director in developing performance evaluation schedules, criteria, and annual reviews for nurse aide trainees and CNAs.
Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure that nurse aide trainees are performing only tasks for which they have been trained.
Monitor absenteeism to ensure that nurse aide trainees attend scheduled training classes.
Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel relative to the nursing assistant training program.
Make appropriate reports to the Administrator as required or as may be necessary, including departmental performance evaluations.
Ensure that departmental disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or marital status.
Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator.
Ensure that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelines.
Staff Development Assist the In-service Director/Educator in the development and planning of timely in-service training classes that provide instructions on how to do the job, and ensure a well-balanced nursing assistant training program.
Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program that orients new nurse aide trainees to the facility, its policies and procedures, and to their job position and duties.
Assist the Administrator in developing and revising the nursing assistant training curriculum used by the facility.
Submit to state agency for approval as required.
Assist support services in developing, implementing, and conducting in-service training programs that relate to the facility's nursing assistant training program.
Assist the In-service Director/Educator in the development of nursing staff in-service training programs.
Ensure that these programs meet the continuing education requirements which allow CNAs to keep their licenses on an active status.
Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain your license on a current status.
Safety and Sanitation Assist the Safety Officer in developing safety standards for the nursing service department.
Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks in which potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
Ensure that trainees performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing such tasks.
Ensure that adequate supplies of personal protective equipment are on hand and are readily available to trainees who perform procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids.
Monitor trainees to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
Ensure that all resident care rooms, treatment areas, etc.

Ensure that trainees follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress codes.
Ensure that trainees participate in and conduct all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.
Ensure that trainees follow established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary.
Develop, implement, and maintain a procedure for reporting hazardous conditions or equipment.
Equipment and Supply Functions Recommend to the Administrator the equipment and supply needs of the training program.
Ensure that only trained and authorized personnel operate facility equipment.
Ensure that trainees operate nursing service equipment in a safe manner.
Budget and Planning Functions Assist the Administrator in planning the annual budget needs of the training program.
Report suspected or known incidence of fraud relative to false billings, cost reports, kickbacks, etc.
Resident Rights Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
Monitor trainees to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that trainees knock before entering the resident's room.
Ensure that trainees are knowledgeable of the residents' responsibilities and rights including the right to refuse treatment.
Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written/oral report to the DONS indicating what actions were taken to resolve the complaint or grievance.
Maintain a written record of the resident's complaints and/or grievances that indicates the action taken to resolve the complaint and the current status of the complaint.
Follow facility's established procedures.
Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
Ensure that trainees honor the resident's refusal of treatment request.
Ensure that such requests are in accordance with the facility's policies governing advance directives.

Education Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience Must have, as a minimum, three years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.
Must have, as a minimum, six months training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
Must have completed a train-the-trainer program approved by this state.
Specific Requirements Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc.

Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
